About Our Squawkers

All Squawkers are currently out of stock. We have no current plans to build more, as the cost of keeping them in stock exceeds our retiree budget.

Full-Body Raccoon Squawker - $65 + $9 S+H (within the USA) = $74 total

These squawkers are fairly large (approx. 32-37" in length. We have had excellent results training with them and find them to be fairly rugged. There is no stuffing in these squawkers, nor is there any stitching. No thread to break and no stiching line to create a perforation in the hide.

We are not a business and do not realize a profit from making squawkers. We strive to offer this product at our cost-to-produce as a service to sighthound enthusisasts in support of amateur racing activities. At customer request, we are willing to exchange unused/new product, if possible. We may opt to offer refund of the purchase price (not including shipping costs), if exchange is not possible. We will not replace or refund for damaged product. The buyer accepts responsibility for any damages related to the use or misuse of this product.

Our squawkers are derivative of the NGA design (which is no longer offered) and use the same Scotch Game Call (Pete Ricard Co. - No. 1503) inside.

We have spent a whopping amount of time and effort to research materials and improvements beyond the original design. We hope you can appreciate the fine quality that these efforts have produced.

The lures created at Domino Whippets feature the following quality improvements:
  • Rot-resistant faux fur fabrics
  • Machine-sewn seams using 100% Nylon Upholstery Thread (No staples!)
  • Quick drying polyfill stuffing (No shredded paper!)
  • Retention screen prevents loss of squawker reed
  • Sewn-in draw loop helps prevent detachment
  • Plush, natural Canadian coyote fur tails.

Repair/Rebuild of Squawkers

Approximately half the cost of a squawker can be attributed to the expense of the predator lure inside. The cost of a Pete Ricard #1503 Scotch Game Call has risen steeply in recent years, increasing the price of squawkers. As such, it may be prudent to rebuild your lure rather than to replace it.

Lures can be delivered to Domino Whippets for rebuild. The cost of repair will be quoted before rebuild is undertaken. A complete rebuild is approximately 1/2 the cost of a new lure.

Please note that batching several lures together will help you get the most value for your shipping dollar. Be advised that you may be able to minimize shipping cost by removing damaged covers, old stuffing and old tails to ship the predator lures without the extra weight, as these materials will be discarded at rebuild anyway.

Alternatively, you can attempt to rebuild the lure yourself. Domino Whippets may be able to offer parts to facilitate this process, provided we have them in stock. Please view our flyer for customized Squawker Repair Kits

White is especially recommended for dogs that have chased white plastic bags prior to starting to race as it can help make their transition more comfortable.
